Sustainability as part of the curriculum

At Langelands Efterskole, teaching is not just about books and homework. Pupils also work on practical projects that focus on topics such as food, resources and nature.

One example is the school’s maritime kitchen garden – a sea meadow in the waters around Langeland. Here, pupils learn, amongst other things, about cultivating blue mussels and seaweed, and about the potential for producing food from the sea.

Langelands Efterskole is the first efterskole in Denmark to have established a maritime community garden.

The school is also a UNESCO Global Goals School and incorporates the Sustainable Development Goals into its teaching.

Creativity and community

Creativity also plays a central role at Langelands Efterskole. Pupils can express themselves in the workshops, take part in activities at the community centre and contribute to the Legume Partnership. Here, there is scope for both small and large-scale projects – and plenty of warm, welcoming communities.

Part of the South Funen Archipelago Geopark

Langelands Efterskole is a partner in the South Funen Archipelago Geopark. Through various projects, pupils can work with and learn more about the local landscape and the interplay between sea and land.
