About Østerskov Beach
This dive site can be found on the south of Langeland, between Humble and Bagenkop.

It is a classic east Langeland shore dive, and the water quickly reaching a depth of a couple of meters. As the winds in Denmark are predominantly westerly you will often find calm, flat water here on Langeland’s east coast.

The maximum depth here is 6 m and you quickly reach a depth of three meters. Take care when entering the water as the pebbly beach can be slippery and treacherous.

Swim out at a right angle to the beach, and after covering a short distance you will reach an area of seabed consisting of bladder wrack and pebbles. This is followed by an area with sand - around 30m - before you reach a mixed bottom with different species of seaweed, eel grass and plenty of fish.

The sandy bottom is relatively hard here, and there are also patches of gravel. Pipefish, butterfish, plaice, flounders and turbot can be seen in many places. Flatfish are most often being seen in the transition zones between sand and gravel. In the next zone further out, there are larger rocks, overgrown with seaweed, spread out in amongst the eel grass. Shrimps and sand gobies can be found everywhere, and these are what bring in the larger fish which see them as food items. In the evening sea-trout and cod often approach close to land, so a sun-set or night dive here can be a really good idea.

This is a great place to make two dives in a day. One in the late afternoon and an evening/night dive at the end of the day. Please note that there is quite a lot of yachts sailing close to shore during the summer.

How to get here:
From Svendborg drive towards Rudkøbing and then turn south down route 305 to Bagenkop. In Tryggelev turn left onto Østerskovvej. At the end of this road you will find a car park five meters form the water’s edge.
